Where is Feral located?

We are in Northwest Denver, at 4320 Tennyson St., Denver, CO 80212. We are conveniently located between the city and the mountains, and are the perfect pick up and drop off location for your rental needs. If you have a free hour, we recommend planning to eat while you’re in the neighborhood. We are near some of Denver’s best restaurants.

How do I make a reservation?

We always recommend booking online if possible. This ensures availability, and locks in your gear before someone else rents it. If that’s not possible, we can take reservations over the phone at (303)903-8584, or in-store. Whatever is most convenient for you.

The dates appear to be unavailable for the item I need. What does this mean?

This likely means that the item you need is sold out for those dates. Feel free to give us a call at (303)903-8584 to double check.

Do you offer shipping?

Currently we only offer shipping on mountaineering and expedition gear. All other items must be picked up and dropped off at our Denver location.

If shipping for mountaineering gear is needed, what dates should I book?

The first date of booking should be the date that you need the item by. For instance, if you’re leaving on Friday, you should book the item to arrive on Thursday at the latest. The last date of booking should be the date that you plan to ship the item(s) back.

How is shipping handled? How much does it cost?

We usually ship out items to arrive an extra day or two early. Nothing is worse than a needed item not arriving on time. We will include a return label for your gear. When you are done with the items, throw them back in the same box, slap the return label on it and drop it off at the Post Office. There is a small fee for shipping, that includes both ways. That fee is based upon the item(s) that you’ve rented, and is included in your checkout. Commonly it is approximately 50% of the actual shipping costs, so we’re basically splitting it with you. We want to ensure you’re getting the absolute best value available.

If I’m picking up in-store, what dates should I book the rental for?

The first date of booking is the date that you plan to pick up the item, and the last date of the rental is the date that you plan to return it.

Do I need to bring my gear back clean?

Yes. We do expect gear to be returned clean and dry. Dry is the number one thing. Wet gear means mildew which often means that gear must be damaged out. That can result in the replacement cost being charged to you. Please make sure you shake the dirt out of your tent and other gear. It’s important to know that we reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee if your gear comes back unnecessarily unkempt. How often do we do that? Rarely. And if you are in a situation where you must return gear back damp or wet, a phone call will go a long way in helping us prepare to service the gear appropriately. More than anything, our goal is to make sure everything goes out to you 100% clean and fresh. The condition that you return the gear in helps us achieve that goal for the next customer.

What if the item is damaged during my rental?

We offer damage protection on most items at a small fee. You’ll see that option when you book. It is a great value, and covers you in the event of damage during your rental. If you waive the damage protection, you will be charged for the repair or replacement costs associated with any damage that happens during your trip. With that said, we understand normal wear and tear on rental items. Just treat the gear like you own it and there shouldn’t be any problem.

What kind of gear do you rent?

The best. We only sell premium brands, and as a result we only rent premium brands. We won’t name anyone specifically, but some of the other options out there are using value brands. You deserve the best, we offer the best.

What if I’m going to be late returning the gear?

Call us at (303)903-8584 if possible to alert us of the issue. If you give us a heads up and we can prepare to adjust other rentals, sometimes we can reduce the fees associated with your late return.

Can I pick up my gear early?

Occasionally your gear might be available the night before your scheduled rental pickup. Feel free to call us after 5pm the day before your rental to inquire about pick up the evening prior to your booking date. If it’s available, you can have it. This is always subject to availability. On average, gear is available early about 20% of the time, so definitely don’t book with the expectation that it will be available the night before.
